To share information easily and securely, it is essential to operate within a framework of technical and legislative standards. Trust and connections relates to security and communications, including key national developments designed to help authorities utilise high capacity networks to participate in joined up, secure electronic service delivery. It also helps to promote and ensure public confidence in e-government.

ELSID is a secure extranet system designed to exchange client information between agencies - in this case, the six authorities of the West London Alliance.
