|ODPM to Issue New e-Guidance|

Local authorities are to be issued shortly with new guidance on data sharing and authentication issues by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM).
The ODPM's Local Government Modernisation Team will be releasing the material as part of ongoing efforts to support councils in implementing the national strategy for local eGovernment.
The move is expected to coincide with announcements of new service developments concerning the Government Gateway, the UK's flagship eGovernment project which allows citizens and businesses to interact securely with departments online. The ODPM is currently involved in projects looking at ways to provide secure file exchange between central and local government and authentication through the Gateway.
Two local authority transaction pilots, involving Sedgemoor and Sunderland councils, are being conducted using the Gateway focusing on council tax account viewing services for residents or their agents.
Further details will be made available through the ODPM's eGovernment@Local website.
