The Government has welcomed the strategic recommendations made by the Broadband Stakeholders Group on the steps necessary to accelerate broadband rollout across the UK.
The Government has accepted virtually all of the 15 measures put forward by the BSG last November, including the appointment of a dedicated programme manager with overall responsibility for co-ordinating the implementation of the broadband strategy across government.
However it has rejected the BSG's calls for a cross-government review of the major inhibitors to broadband rollout.
In a statement, BSG Chairman Keith Tood commented: The government will have to remain very focused if it is to deliver many of the commitments made in this report.
I am particularly pleased with their decision to commit more resources to project managing their broadband strategy. This programme is vital to the UKs long term competitiveness and needs to be central to the governments e-agenda.
