|New Research to Highlight Local eGovernment Success|
1 April 2003
The Society of IT Management (Socitm), the professional body for local government IT managers, has announced that significant new research into the development of eGovernment at local level will be unveiled at its Spring Seminar later this month.
Local eGovernment Now 2003, the third annual joint review by Socitm Insight and the Improvement and Development Agency, will this year focus on "outcomes", featuring case studies highlighting projects that have delivered benefits to citizens and businesses.
The report calls for councils to make greater efforts to connect with "heavy users" of local government services, both directly and via intermediaries.
"Unless this is done, the benefits of e-government are unlikely to be realised for the people who need them most," Socitm said.
Further details on the Spring Seminar, which will be held on 29 April in Essex, can be found on the Socitm website.
