The Metropolitan Police Authority has awarded NTL's Public Safety Group a £25 million, seven-year contract for its new digital control room system, it was announced today.
NTL will supply and install and maintain the Integrated Communications Platform (ICP) and be responsible for services including project management and maintenance once the system goes live.
The ICP will serve over 30 police control rooms across Greater London for the Met and the City of London Police, providing access to Airwave, the police digital radio service, CCTV cameras and other communications systems.
Paul Glaister, Telecommunications Programme Director, Metropolitan Police Service said the ICP will provide these facilities "within a single desktop terminal in an efficient and user-friendly way."
