|Planning System Changes Offer Boost to Broadband|
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has launched a consultation on proposed changes to the planning regulations governing the siting of satellitte dishes and antennas on premises.
The move is designed to facilitate access to wireless broadband services, and also fulfills commitments made in the Government's UK Online strategy and Digital Television Action Plan.
"In many cases the regulations can be unnecessarily restrictive and limit consumer choice in accessing satellite and broadband services", the ODPM said.
The Government is considering a range of options, from retaining the current system to full deregulation.
Interested parties have until 4 July to respond to the proposals.
