|RBKC Rolls Out New Email Information Service|
16 April 2003
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has launched a new electronic alert service allowing residents to receive regular notification via email of planning proposals in their area.
Details of planning applications will be mailed out each week, with daily alerts for street works and news updates potentially following in the future. The Council is also considered extending the email service to cover parking suspensions, as well as specific key decisions or consultations.
Councillor David Campion, Lead Member on Information Technology and Chairman of The Computer and Communications Advisory Group, commented: "This service allows residents to be made aware of planning applications which may affect them without the burden of having to check the RBKC website on a regular basis.
He added: "This is clearly a very positive way of delivering relevant information to people living in the Borough."

In a related development, the Council has also updated three electronic information kiosks, based in High Street Kensington, King's Road and Notting Hill Gate, to carry an improved range and quality of information and services for the local community.
