|IT Moves for London Transport|
17 April 2003
Computing magazine reports today that Transport for London (TfL) is planning to commence trials of electronic information kiosks to widen public access to travel information. Initial pilots could begin later this year.
Tfl Chief Information Officer Bill Limond comments in an interview: "Travellers can already access our route planner application through a call centre, across our web site or via their mobile phone.
"Providing access via interactive kiosks will help to ensure that as many people as possible can access up-to-date travel information."
The article also reports that TfL is undertaking an back-office integration programme with London Underground which is designed to bring together the business processes and finance and procurement IT systems of both organisations.
