Minister Opens Camden Learning Centre

Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell has today unveiled a new £1 million e-learning project in Camden designed to benefit local pupils and the community.

The project, funded by the London Borough of Camden and the Department for Education and Skills, has developed a City Learning Centre featuing state-of-the-art learning resource facilities, with a new library, media lab and IT training rooms. The centre based at Acland Burnleigh School has been fitted with around 75 PCs, a video editing suite and interactive whiteboards, and is also open to the local community.

Vivien Cutler, Assistant Director, Curriculum and Community Resources, Camden Council, said: "This is another example of the high priority the London Borough of Camden puts on using information technology to benefit the education of the borough's school pupils and the wider community. We are delighted to have helped fund what is already turning out to be a marvellous - and most attractive - learning resource."
