Sutton ICT Services Praised

Sutton Council's information and communications technology services have been rated as good, with excellent prospects for improvement, following a Best Value inspection report.

In a new report released by the Audit Commission, inspectors found:

  • a clear ICT vision and priorities based on community-based consultation which identifies local needs
  • a robust leadership matrix in place and the service is proactive in piloting innovation
  • a clear webiste, but with limited ability to accept online payments at present
  • high levels of satisfaction and relatively low cost indicators
  • a positive commitment to meeting social inclusion, particularly evident through seeking to meet the needs of 'hard to reach' groups, and
  • the introduction of CRM to the back-office has resulted in improvements to service users and residents.

    The report added: "T
    he council recognises that e-government is an agent of change in the ways it will meet the needs of service users and residents through a wide range of methods of access, and its performance to date in doing so places it in the top 25 per cent of London boroughs."

    The report includes a list of recommendations and issues that the Council should seek to address.
