|Audit Commission Names New Chief Executive|

Steve Bundred, former Chief Executive of Camden Council and current head of the Improvement and Development Agency, was today announced as the new Chief Executive of the Audit Commission.
"I am delighted by the opportunity to contribute to the fresh approach the Audit Commission is taking to public sector regulation", commented Mr Bundred. "Strategic Regulation means minimising bureaucracy and maximising the impact on improving public sevices."
Chairman of the Audit Commission James Strachan paid tribute to Mr Bundred's "great track record" including his "impressive transformation of Camden" and work in higher education.
"He is that rare combination of a superb intellect and with focused ability to deliver", commented Mr Strachan. "This will serve our cause of improving public services extremely well."
