The Guardian newspaper reports today that Transport for London is taking action to review the congestion charge's financial procedures following incidents when enforcement letters were issued in error to drivers who had already paid their fines.
A spokesperson for Capita, the contractor responsible for administering the scheme, comments that more than half a million cheques have been successfully processed, adding: "Some teething troubles are inevitable in a scheme of this size and complexity, and this is a regrettable example."
