|IDeA Appoints New Director|

The Improvement and Development Agency has announced today the appointment of former local authority chief executive Lucy De Groot as new executive director.
Ms de Groot is Director of Public Services at the Treasury with responsibility for major areas of public expenditure.
Commenting on her appointment today, she said: "As a strong believer in self-improvement in local government and achieving high standards, I am committed to improving public services and local democracy. That's why I am delighted and honoured to be given this opportunity to lead the IDeA."
Ms de Groot's career spans the Audit Commission's best value inspectorate, Hackney and Lewisham Councils, the Association of London Authorities, and Bristol City Council where she was chief executive between 1995 and 2000.
