|Government Web Managers Get Guidance|
12 August 2003
The Cabinet Office has published a cut-down version of its e-Government Metadata Standard (e-GMS) - one of the technical standards underpinning the UK eGovernment strategy.
The e-GMS sets out Government policy covering the core set of data 'elements' needed for effective retrieval and management of official information. This reduced version is to be used to help those in the public sector creating local metadata standards for websites, describing the standard and attributes for 19 metadata elements and offering guidance on usage.
