Take-up of digital television continues to speed ahead with more than 41 per cent of UK households having now access to the new services, BBC News reports.
New figures complied from the major digital TV companies indicates that in the first half of 2003, one million people converted from their traditional analogue sets, bringing the total number of UK households with digital television to 10 million.
Freeview, which broadcasts free-to-air digital channels, has added 637,000 viewers in the six months to June, with BSkyB reporting 269,000 new subscribers, NTL taking on an extra 40,000 digital cable subscribers and Telewest announcing 54,000 more digital viewers.
