Business Support for Congestion Charge

Analysis of the first six months of the congestion charge scheme indicates that traffic congestion in London has fallen by 32 per cent after its introduction.

Transport for London said there are now 38 per cent fewer cars and 20 per cent fewer vans and lorries entering the zone daily.

Also a survey of 500 businesses in central London, commissioned by the lobby group London First, found that almost half believe it is working, with 16 per cent taking the oppositive view and 35 per cent undecided. Almost three-quarters said the charge had not affected business but 9 per cent had experienced a 'very negative' impact.
