NAO Examines NHS IT Programme

19 August 2003

Computer Weekly magazine reports today that the National Audit Office is making enquires into the management of the £2.3 billion modernisation of the National Health Service's IT systems.

The government spending watchdog is understood to have only contacted the Department of Health to ask questions about the national IT programme, and is not yet conducting a formal investigation.

The NAO is quoted as saying: "We have asked the Department to demonstrate to us how it has incorporated the lessons drawn from earlier projects."
