Office of the Deputy Prime Minister
1 October 2002
The Beacon Council Scheme, the Government's initiative for identifying and spreading best practice in local government, has received 186 applications for Round Four: a 42 per cent increase on last year.
Round Four includes themes include encouraging online access to local services (Inclusion through Information Communications Technology).

Ministers will make their final selection in April 2003, based on the advice of the panel.
