Inquiry Site is a Hit

28 August 2003

The Goverment's Hutton Inquiry website has become the most visited political online destination in the UK, surpassing even commercial offerings such as The Guardian in popularity, it is reported.

New data from monitoring group Hitwise indicates a "dramatic surge" in traffic to the Inquiry's website in the two weeks since it began. Public interest has apparently soared following the publication of hundreds of sensitive government documents, private emails and highly-confidential memoranda relating to the affair that would otherwise never have come to light.

The Prime Minister's evidence to the Inquiry today is expected to drive even more traffic to the site, Hitwise believes.
