|'IT Systems Prevented Worse Blackout Misery'|

VNUnet.com reports today that last night's power blackout which affected large areas of London was prevented from becoming more serious by National Grid Transco's IT systems.
Speaking in an interview, a spokesperson for the electricity supplier said NGT's IT systems, based at a Berkshire control room, were able to detect the fault and alert engineers, so that power was restored within 30 minutes.
