|Local Authority Collaboration Brings E-Government Software to Market at Very Low Cost|

A partnership of 35 councils has co-developed a generic Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for local government which will be available at a fraction of the cost of commercial systems currently available.
The Local Authority Shareware Club, whose members include county councils, London boroughs and smaller authorities, announced that the system, based on a product developed by Newham Council, would be on the market by January 2003.
