The latest draft version of the: e-Government Metadata Standard, one of the technical standards underpinning the UK eGovernment strategy, has been released for consultation.
The e-GMS sets out UK Government policy covering the core set of data 'elements' needed for effective retrieval and management of official information.
Adherence to the specifications set out the e-GMS will be mandatory for all government information systems to ensure maximum consistency of metadata across public sector organisations.
Comments are invited by 26 February 2004.
