Barking & Dagenham Offers Access for All

3 February 2004

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham has implemented a number of improvements to its website, offering residents new online services and greater accessibility.

Among the enhancements at www.barking-dagenham.gov.uk is a facility allowing visitors to locate local services by providing the post code or street name.

Executive Member for Customer Care, Councillor Liam Smith, said: "More and more people are using the Internet to contact the Council. The work we have done to the website will make this even easier for everyone, including those with disabilities.

"We want our residents to talk to us and work with us. The Internet is one way of doing this and it was important that we made our website more customer-friendly.

"With free Internet access at all our libraries and more people owning home computers, I hope this will mean even more local people will be logging on."
