Pocket PCs Transform Services at Lewisham

Network IT Week reports today how Lewisham Council is using mobile devices for field staff for remote working.

It looks at how council repairs teams are being equipped with GRPS-enabled PDAs, linked with Lewisham's CRM system, through which they can receive details of jobs instead of having to travel to pick up work sheets.

The new working practices are expected to save at least 45 minutes' working time, as well as several thousand pounds per year in reduced fuel, paperwork, printing and accomodation costs, it is reported.
