Steve Bundred Joins IDeA

Improvement and Development Agency

12 November 2002

Steve Bundred, chief executive of the London Borough of Camden, was today named as the new executive director of the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA).

Mr Bundred takes over from Mel Usher, the founder and first executive director of IDeA who announced he would be standing down earlier this year.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Bundred said:

"With the CPA results about to be announced and the whole debate about public service improvement high on the political agenda, it is a really exciting time to be joining the IDeA.

"Mel and his deputy John O'Brien have made a huge impact on the improvement of local government and I am delighted they have recruited some exceptionally talented people to work with."

His appointment was welcomed by Sir Brian Briscoe, Chief Executive of the Local Government Association and IDeA Chairman Colin Barrow.
