E-Voting Suppliers Named

Office of the Deputy Prime Minister

30 January 2003

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister announced today the IT companies approved to supply councils taking part in trials of electronic voting over the next three years.

The vendors were selected following an ODPM procurement last year, which aimed to establish a framework of techology suppliers to support the electoral modernisation pilot projects due to take place in future local government elections, commencing with those scheduled to be held in May 2003.

A total of 12 companies or consortia have been invited to join the framework, including major players such as BT and EDS as well as a number of smaller suppliers such as Northern Ireland-based Opt2Vote.
